Paul and Sarah Schermann of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Erinn Schermann, to Matthew Monette. He is the son of John and Sara Monette of Pineville, La.

Schermann is a 1996 graduate of Central High School. She received a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Mississippi in 2000. She is a manufacturing resource engineer at International Paper in Natchez, Miss.

Monette is a 1988 graduate of Tioga High School in Tioga, La., He received a degree in mechanical engineering from Louisiana State University in 1992. He is a registered professional engineer and is manager of co-product development at International Paper in Natchez.
